A few hours spent at Kus Pazari, the bird market in the Fatih district of Istanbul. Lot of pigeons, including some rarities, but also budgies, wrens, chickens (some for show, some destined for dinner). I was amazed by the variety and beauty of the birds on show, but after a bit it began to bother me... all that, in cages, thrown up in the air to fly, but only the length of a string tied to the bird's leg.
